Newlyn Seagull Nesting

This video is about Seagulls Nesting in Newlyn,
I still have nightmares about Penzance. Market Jew Street usually, for some reason.
I had recently moved from (near) Penzance to (just outside) Helston when this was filmed. All I can we js... you missed the smuggler hiding in the Benbow's roof!
The cathedral is 1 ft high for every mile it is to st Paul's in London .
Last days of a busy high street
this is really good. Music complements it perfectly.
Lovely nostalgia, I remember the shop with the noddy car on it ,it was near the amusement arcade on the sea front wasn't it x
wow i traveled penzance with my girlfriend last week ,it was amazing! Best town!
It must have been a Monday when filming. All the washing on the lines . Simpler times 🇬🇧
Full of people that live there l bet it saddens me to see what Cornwall has become. Thanks for the video nice memories 😅
❤
I am homesick for Penzance, we lived in 12 Belgravia Streeti wish we never moved from there at 11yrs old to Reading Berks. I was deeply in love with Patty Try 2 doors down (she was about 9/10). Went from Lescudjack School then Penzance County School afetr 11plus! My only visit there was on ship's business Nov 1957 during an on shore gale, had to go around to St Ives. Live in Calgary Cda now but still yearn for it when I hear even a mention even at 92 yrs old! PZ was paradise to me! Dad, why did we leave?
I,d keep your happy memories complete, its just a sad depressed dirty shell of its former self now, full of Drunk's and drug addicts, homeless people littering every other doorway and is getting worse all the time, believe me youre better off in Canada.

The most beautiful place in the world on a sunny day -Non to shabby on a poor day -New years Eve is well worth a visit as well 💙
The most beautiful place in the world on a sunny day …None to shabby on a rainy day ..New years Eve is fantastic night out as well 👍🏼
Wish I could time travel
A great place to grow up in the fifties, lived at 33 Adelaide street. I now live in Australia. I often wonder if any of my old school mates are still kicking.
Ironic spelling of grammar school
I was living in St Clare Street (before moving to Newlyn) when this was filmed, but I'm not in any of the footage. It was around this time when the army got a Land Rover stuck in the harbour-sand for some reason. The locals all told them not to drive down there but they were ignored, and then stood around in amusement and bemusement and watched the army race the incoming tide to get the thing out again - which they only just achieved - but it was tight!
Where I was born and went to grammar school. Lovely to watch this video. It brought back a lot of good memories.
The first time I visited I stayed with Charles and Gillian at newlyn higher gwavis rd the second time with Dorothy in the village of Paul happy memories god bless Charles and Dorothy greetings from Scotland 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Penzance was my dear late Dad's favourite town in Kernow. He simply loved the place and wished he lived there. But we were only annual visitors from Bathford.
Just before the rot set in!
Visited Penzance in 2006 my mother's ancestors on her mother's side came from Paul only had a few days but went down to lands end and to West of England Steam Rally at St.Agnes enjoyed Cornwell. I live in NZ.
Was working on the tourist information centre at the time these photos were taken. Thanks for sharing 👍
Very different to how it is now for sure! Fountain court (the massive building seen at 1:21) is apparently scheduled to be demolished soon
I heard that too, but what's going to replace it?
@@kernow9324 Honestly not too sure. Will look very weird without it though
@@clover182Harry Your website is great! My brother would have loved it. He was one of the first punk rockers in Redruth. We played The Sex Pistols at his funeral earlier this year.
Oh great! "We have got a huge unexploded bomb here. What shall we do?" " Well we could invite the little girls from the nursery school over to have a look."
My husband made the Knees shop front probable with a little help from me, but we didn`t fit it.
Should have bought a house and moved there then to live, not now unless you win the lottery. Shame.
I always headed for Knees!!
I use to live in Treweath Road above Jon Dory's fish & chip shop in Penzance back in 2010.
I noticed the Lifeboat boat station isn’t there on West Pier, i could have sworn it was there when I was little in the 80s. Apparently not though as it was actually built in 1994!😮 Great video by the way 👏
I'm pleased the exact month and year are shown, I like specifics.
‘Unexploded bomb at Tolver Rd’ . . . Before the days of health and safety. I can only assume it had already been made safe. Although the nose does seem intact 😂
Falmouth looked so much better then.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS.
Love to see this ,my childhood memories ,The old cars ,a way of life that hadnt changed for centuries ,see the three old Cornisj men wearing thier caps waving as a motor car drives past .No over developement ,pvc or botch in those days .Cornish heaven .
Great footage of when Cornwall was a remote far away county. Thanks
Made to look old even the spotness of the film footage almost had me convinced in the sky from above with a drone
Are you trying to say it's faked? It clearly isn't.
Hi Jack. Loved seeing the old photos as they capture history in the making. Lovely to see the old style of clothes women wore it's a pity it's not in fashion now outfits even men's wereuch more elegant back then. Marie
Hi Jack. I loved seeing the Mousehole storm so dramatic and lovely but at the same time so dangerous. Thank you for showing the after effects of it with all the damage it causes. Marie
Im walking on the left at 3.00
Are you still living there ? 😊
@@jeanhornby2995 No, left in 05.
@@brother.d9979 Penzance looks such a lovely place : )
this is SO cool
I still pop into the town to Ava look around not busy these days bleedy Covid , the government needs to spend some money in kernow , best county around .
I remember that drive so very pretty in the spring.
Wow ! I had forgotten what an eyesore that big gas cylinder was down by the harbourside.
I was hoping to see it too be be honest, it reminds me of the old Penzance i remembered as a child.
Love Penzance, then and now. Nice collection of pictures.
No better place to be in the UK 🐦♥️
I absolutely love everything about Cornwall, but please penzance put loads of colour into your town. Everything looks really drab and grey, even the clothes people are wearing look dark & sombre. Cornwall and the cornish people are bright happy colourful. Love you to bits.
Glad I wasn’t the only one who’s noticed that sometimes about Penzance maybe that’s why some people think it’s really rough.
Newlyn voted for Brexit so now they will have to eat their own Pilchards in The Swordfish and The Star pubs.. Greetings from Ireland.
How lovely the shop used to look it's a shame it doesn't look like that all the decorative writing love these old photographs I just wish it's still look like..
Such small skate😪
